Waldorf Cambridge 1-2 September 2025
Before the new school year kicks off, I am returning home from a truly inspiring conference about health in education. Dr Michaela Glöckler was the main speaker at the conference. With her profound insights, lucid thinking and clarity, she engaged teachers, therapists, house keepers, doctors and admin staff alike in conversations about what makes an educational environment healthy, conducive for a life worth living.
Yet again, I feel grateful to have chosen this particular pedagogy for my boys, and to be working, as a therapist and as a teacher in accord with the Waldorf ethos. Here, art is placed at the centre of education. Michaela Glöckler emphasises that a wholesome, beautiful environment plays a vital role for our well-being, and as such is at the heart of this education. Also, as the well-being of the soul is central, the inner life is addressed in each subject through the transformative virtues of goodness, beauty and truth.
It stands clear to me now, that the Alpha and Omega of Waldorf education is health. Together we seek to create a culture where the young human being can grow up as a healthy and whole individual with courage for the truth. Waldorf education nurtures a strong spirit, and a healthy soul in a sound body for the growing child. So, as the new school year begins, I take this opportunity to celebrate this health enhancing education with my whole being. Thank you to Cambridge Waldorf School for organising this conference. The heart is full. 🙏
